A LITTLE HELP
Back to the
good stuff.
Pinch runs on macOS 15 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Here are a few answers to get you moving.
Your first pinch
- Open Pinch and find its jaws icon in the menu bar.
- Choose files from the menu, or drop them onto the icon.
- Pull either jaw inward, or choose Auto to get started.
- Use Show in Finder to reveal your results.
The Finder shortcut isn’t working
Check the shortcut in Pinch’s Settings → Shortcuts. If you previously denied Finder access, check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation → Pinch. You can always use the file chooser or drag and drop instead.
Pinch needs folder access
In the App Store version, choose the folder containing the files you want to process. If a saved folder permission stops working, select the folder again. Canceling a permission request leaves your files untouched.
Where are my files?
Pinch saves beside your originals by default. Check Settings → Saving if you’ve chosen a different destination. Existing filenames get a number so Pinch doesn’t silently overwrite another output.
Can I undo a pinch?
Pull a jaw outward after compression, use Undo in the panel, or choose Undo last pinch from the menu bar. Undo history is session-local, so use it before quitting the app.
Still need a hand?
Include your macOS version, Pinch version, file format, and what happened. Only attach files you are comfortable sharing.
